HI all,
Just some brief notes on “Insurance” partly notes on members experience ( positive outcomes), mainly noting companies that offer insurance for strawbale Houses.
……………………………………………………………..
Please go direct, Brokers seem to be part of the " problem"
Always make sure that the policy note’s in writing, that it is “ Rendered strawbale construction”
……………………………………………………………
As well as the companies mentioned below, some members are insured with AAMI, and NRMA.

Thanks for all the feedback. I got an unexpected call from RAA yesterday to say that they gave me the incorrect information regarding their decline of insurance of our house. They would like to continue to insure us noting in our policy that it is constructed with straw. They don’t have a drop down box as such in their insurance category but they have given us a certificate of currency to verify we have told them that we have a straw bale house.
They must have gone back to their phone call monitoring when we first insured. ??
Because of this, and insurers being wary we think we will stay with them.

………………………………………………………………………….

We have our insurance with SGIC,

SGIC will ask what type of construction, And will include " rendered Strawbale construction"
In their category group of Mud Brick.
Make sure there is a policy note to the effect that the construction is Rendered strawbale construction.

Thank you very much for your suggestion. I did approach SGIC, but the process stalled when they didn't get back to me after I needed to contact them about something.

In the meantime, I had received a different suggestion from another source. They suggested CGU, and I have now taken out a policy with them.
They actually have 'rendered strawbale' as one of their main options, which made the application fairly straightforward.

Nevertheless, I really appreciated your help in the process of trying to find a suitable insurer.
